There are now only three products which I feel the need to use regularly for my skin.
I have combination skin, but as I've gotten older, it seems to be getting more and more sensitive. It flares up when I travel and shower in an area with different water, I'll get alot of redness and occasionally a blemish or spot, and so it has gotten to the point where I like to use only the simplest products on my skin.
After ceasing use of all my favourite skin scrubs and washes, to no avail, I knew it must be the water, when I showered I always held my face under the water, and I quickly began to realise that this must be what was causing my troubles, not long after this, I read a post on Garance Dore, in which she said that her skin consultant advised her to stop using tap water on her face.
For a couple of months now, I have been sure to avoid getting tap water on my face, and although this is inevitable, I avoid it as much as possible, and only use three products on a regular basis.
1. Avene Thermal Water, for sensitive skin, I absolutely adore this stuff, it feels sensational, I use it if my face feels a little lacklustre, or dry, or after make up, or to wake me up or... you get the idea...
2. Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion, under make up, sometimes even just because, it's a lovely thin consistency which sinks in easily and causes no irritation or blocked pores whatsoever.
3. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, applied with a q-tip to any spots or blemishes I may get, I feel it really helps to hurry up the healing process and minimise redness.
I do still use my washes and scrubs occasionally, but once I run out of the ones I have currently, I'm not sure I'll repurchase! I also still use my Queen Helene Mint Julep masque once a week or so, and use make up remover as normal.
Happy Valentines' Day for tomorrow.
